Ryan is here!!!!

Welcome to the Roth family!

Ryan Brad John Roth
Born 2/15/2012 6:41PM
5 lbs 3 oz.
18"
Ryan finally arrived. It took 17 days in the hospital after my water broke.  We induced labor at 6:59am and he was born in under 12 hours with only 12 minutes of pushing.  Ryan is doing extremely well for a 35w2d baby! He has passed all the premie tests! We hope that all will be heading home on Friday evening. We need to buy a new car seat because the one we had and used on Andrew is just a inch to big for Ryan and they won't allow us to leave until we get a smaller one...argh!

Roth Baby #2 - update #15

Tuesday's update: it's been 2 weeks, 1 day and 6+ hours since my water broke and that I've been in the hospital. We retested the amniotic fluid this morning and the baby's lungs are "mature enough". This means we induce first thing tomorrow morning (Wed 2/15)! We will be 35w2d...the doctors won't let me go pass 36w with my water breaking at 33w...too much risk involved for me and baby. The doctors say that this little guy could be born in 4-18 hours...so he'll either be born on 2/15/12 or 2/16/12. Assuming no complications occur, I will be discharged after staying one more night after he's delivered. Baby#2 will be discharged after he passes 3 tests: 1) keep his body temperature in a normal range; 2) eat well and on his own without a tube; and 3) breathe on his own without a CPAP or tube. I am both nervous and excited for tomorrow morning...I hope I can get one more "good" nights sleep before we become a family of 4!

Roth Baby #2 - update #14

Monday's update: it's been exactly 2 weeks since my water broke and that I've been in the hospital. Nothing new to report...physically baby#2 and I are doing good. We will try to retest the amniotic fluid tomorrow morning. Based upon those results, there is a 2/3 chance we will induce on Wednesday, 2/15 and a 1/3 chance we will induce on Thursday, 2/16.

Roth Baby #2 - update #13

Sunday's update: it's been exactly 1 week & 6 days since my water broke and that I've been in the hospital. Still no sign of infection or distress = very good! I got to see Andrew and Brent for a little bit this morning. It was the last time the 3 of us will be together until after baby#2 arrives. Brent's next few days will be crazy hectic with work and concerts at our church...so I won't see much of him or Andrew...it will be tough (I already cried 3x this morning) but I have to remember that the end is near and soon I will be home and baby#2 will be a part of this family. Still scheduled for induction on Wednesday, 2/15. "I think I can. I think I can. I think I can."

Roth Baby #2 - update #12

Saturday nights update: it's been 1 week, 5 days and 7+ hours since my water broke. Still no sign of infection or distress. No news is good news right? Nothing new to report today. Only 3 more days until induction!

Roth Baby #2 - update #11

Friday nights update: it's been 1 week, 4 days and 8+ hours since my water broke. Still no sign of infection or distress. Sorry but there is absolutely nothing new to report today. Which is good, I suppose :) Only 4 more days until induction. WOW! I'm so close to the end!!!! I got to see Brent and Andrew for a few hours this evening. Andrew has a new saying: "I love you....SQUIRREL!" I have no idea where he got this from....I asked him if he watched the movie "UP" at someone's house because that is the only thing I can think of...he didn't answer me, just repeated his new saying over and over....so, I don't know....he's a goof ball!

Roth Baby #2 - update #10

Thursday nights update: it's been 1 week, 3 days and 8+ hours since my water broke. Still no sign of infection or distress. Every few days we have an ultrasound to check certain things and the one concern is the amount of amniotic fluid I have left. My body is losing fluid faster then it's making it. The big risk with low fluid is placenta damage. I got pretty freaked out after hearing all the bad things that can happen but as the doctors said, there is nothing I can do but continue to drink lots of water and get lots of rest until induction day (Wed 2/15). I got to see Brent and Andrew for a few hours this evening...but it never feels like enough...I had to keep telling myself (and Andrew)...."Only 5 days and some odd hours until baby is out." I'm like 2/3 done...
 Poor little guy....so tired :)

Roth Baby #2 - update #9

Wednesday nights update: it's been 1 week, 2 days and 10 hours since my water broke. Still no sign of infection or distress. Our goal is still to make it to 35 weeks which is Monday, 2/13 but we are scheduled to induce labor on Wednesday, 2/15. Tonight was "date night", Brent and I ate dinner and finished up Season 4 of DEXTER. I didn't get to see Andrew today but I get to see him tomorrow...oh how I miss him! The internet at the hospital was down all day so I had to resort to watching a movie, reading a book, playing some free-cell, and doing some cross-stitch. I was so bored! The days leading up to "induction day" are going to be so rough. Brent has 2 rehearsals and 3 concerts, which means I won't see much of him or Andrew until baby#2 arrives. My aunt Terese wrote me today and her words couldn't have come at a better time: "I know everyone is probably telling you that this experience will make you stronger. That isn’t true. This experience only reveals the strength that you and Brent already have."

Roth Baby #2 - update #8

Tonight's update....it's been 1 week, 1 day and 7 hours since my water broke. Still no sign of infection or distress, still having between 0-4 contractions an hour but they are not too painful or regular to be alarmed. We have 5 more days to reach our goal. My wonderful mother-in-law brought me in a premie outfit this afternoon to help prepare me. Andrew was a month early and swam in the newborn clothes...I can only imagine how much the premie clothes will swim on baby#2. I have to be honest, today was rough...nothing happened exactly, my thoughts/hormones/lack of sleep/something just decided to break through my tough exterior today and I broke a little. I cheered up once my MIL brought Andrew in to see me and Brent got here from work. I love my boys and can't imagine a life without them...they are who I live for....and soon there will be one more boy on that list :)

Roth Baby #2 - update #7

Here we are....it's been 1 week and 6 hours since my water broke. Still no sign of infection or distress. I am having between 0-4 contractions an hour but they are not too painful or regular to be alarmed. We have less than 6 days to reach our goal...I just need to keep him in for a little longer. Andrew is still anxious for me to come home but he's crying less at his visits. Brent is still managing work, shuttling Andrew, taking care of dogs, visiting me, AND rehearsing for his Valentine's Day concert at our church. He is amazing! I am off of IV's and antibiotics....just monitoring baby 3 times a day and trying to get rest...just need to get through this week and get baby to be healthy enough to be born 5 weeks early. Thank you for all your prayers and good thoughts...You are helping!

Roth Baby #2 - update #6

Hi all - Sorry I did not give an update last night...but I really enjoyed a long visit with Brent and Andrew yesterday. Still no "baby2" which is a good thing...need to hold in there at least another week. Just to answer some questions...1) Yes, I am taking visitors but 2) the visitors must be at least 12 years old and healthy and 3) if you want to visit, just try to call my cell phone and let's set up a time that works for both of us. I've been told that if I've had too many visitors in one day and it excites my contractions again, then visitors could be restricted, and we don't want that right? I'll give another update this afternoon when we reach the "1 week since water broke mark". Hope you all have a great Monday.
Andrew was pretty tired too :)

Roth Baby #2 - update #5

It's been 129+ hours since my water broke. Today I am at 33 weeks 6 days. I'm really exhausted, so I'm going to keep this update short. No signs of infection yet but I have had some contractions today. The nurse was concerned that I may have had too many visitors today and that tomorrow be limited to just Brent and Andrew visiting. It will be Super Bowl Sunday so I'm sure that will be easy enough---everyone has big plans, right? :) Good night all!

The label for batch #21 is seen above.

Roth Baby #2 - update #4

It's been 103+ hours since my water broke. Today I am at 33 weeks 5 days. Baby and I are still doing fine physically, no signs of contractions or infection so far. Had a lazy day. My mom, aunt and grandfather brought Andrew in to see me a few hours ago. First thing he said when he saw me "Momma, are you done here yet? You come home tonight?" I wish buddy! Please continue to pray, send good thoughts, send good vibes, or whatever you can :) Our goal is to make it to 35+ weeks. That's my update for today....I'll touch base tomorrow in between visitors.

Roth Baby #2 - update #3

It's been 81+ hours since my water broke. Today I am at 33 weeks 4 days. Baby and I are still doing fine physically, no signs of contractions or infection so far. Had a good morning. My cousin Jennifer stopped by during lunch and we got to talk for an hour...poor thing---I seriously talked her ear off...sorry but you were my first visitor in many, many hours! LOL!!! The afternoon was mentally hard though. My friend was supposed to bring Andrew by at 3pm to see me (I hadn't seen him since Tuesday)....but she had car troubles and didn't get here with him until 6:30pm. At this point he was tried and cranky. He just wanted me to be done with the hospital and come home or let him stay here with me. That was hard. If only he understood how much I'd love to be home with him right now or even let him stay here with me until his brother arrives. But tomorrow is another day and I'll hopefully see him around 3pm for a nice long visit before Brent has to take him home for the night. Please continue to pray, send good thoughts, send good vibes, or whatever you can :) That's my update for today....I'll touch base tomorrow. Hug your significant other or your kids or your dogs/cats or even yourself extra special hard tonight....and remember to be patient and loving with the people in your life that matter the most! Good night all!

Roth Baby #2 - update #2

It's been 55+ hours since my water broke. Today I am at 33 weeks 3 days. Baby and I are still doing fine physically. Please continue to pray, send good thoughts, send good vibes, or whatever you can :) Brent is amazing! He has been such a superman---still fitting in work, taking care of our 2 dogs, shuttling Andrew back and forth between different peoples houses and visiting me at least once a day. Our goal is to make it to 35-36 weeks but as we've been told baby #2 could come any day or they'll have to induce him if signs of infection or distress start. We've been told that we are definitely having a February baby that will be premature....we just don't know how premature. Nurses jokingly told me that my body just wants to have babies faster since Andrew was born at 36 weeks too...in a few months I may find that funny :) That's my update for today....I'll touch base tomorrow.
