2007 Gingerbread House

Here are some pics from our gingerbread house making experience. It was the first time I've ever made a gingerbread house. I thought it would be simple but I was sadly mistaken...building and decorating a gingerbread house is a lot of work and creativity. But I survived and think we'll try again next year. Although I'm thinking that my husband and I need to each have our own house to design. I am from University of Oregon (GO DUCKS!) and my husband is my rival from Oregon State University (he'd like to insert GO BEAVERS! here...I'll allow it, this time). So one side of the house is for me and the other is for him....but next year I'm decorating my ENTIRE gingerbread house for the DUCKS! :)

Outside Table Cover

My hubby and I bought a really nice table and chairs for our back deck...and we live in Oregon...meaning rain, rain, rain :) Only half of our back deck is covered and I really wanted to make sure these staying clean and "new-looking" for years to come...Hence project - Table Cover! I went to Joann's and found some Vinyl that was water-proof and that would hold up against the outside elements. What do you think? Well, I'm quite proud of myself for creating this lovely table cover :)
*** Oh and please disregard the doggie prints EVERYWHERE!!! :) ***

Ohio Star Quilt for CARES Northwest

There is a group at my work called KP Quilters (I work for Kaiser Permanente). We make quilts and donate them to CARES Northwest. CARES Northwest is a medically-based child abuse assessment and intervention program that puts children first. Check out their website for more information, http://www.caresnw.org/
Everyone in KP Quilters has a job, from choosing the monthly design, cutting fabric, sewing/creating blocks, putting quilt tops together, adding batting and backs, etc. My job is sewing/creating the blocks. If you have fabric, thread, etc you would like to donate to KP Quilters, let me know.
Here is the latest, it's the Ohio Star Pattern, you can see my 9 blocks that I'll be sending onto the next person to put together to complete the quilt top...

Pillows for Mom

Hi all - no I haven't fallen off the face of the earth....but it's been like that! I have one of those summer colds that just won't leave! Got it on Sunday and it's lingering like crazy :( Anyhoo....I haven't worked on many cards this weekend because my brain can't possibly think of something to create from scratch, so I finished up the pillows my mother asked me to make for her bedroom. She got a new white bedspread that has little cranberry colored flowers on it and she's thinking the room looks too white and wanted some color in there...so voila! Here mom---here's some matching pillows :)

Baby Blanket #1

Here is a cute baby blanket I just finished making for a friend. I have never liked pink but I love this dark pink, light pink and green combo. I enjoy making baby blankets--probably because they are not to difficult...you just need to go straight across...I can't imagine making a sweater...."what this piece needs arms?"

Jeweled Bookmarks

I went to the craft store the other day and saw some Jeweled Bookmarks that I just loved...well I thought to myself, "I can make that!" So I bought the supplies and went home and started making bookmark after bookmark. I've decided that I'm going to put them in my family's stockings at Christmas.
If you're family and you're looking at this blog, can you guess which one is going to be yours? :)
Thanks for stopping by. Have a great weekend!

Tea Book

I made 3 of these Tea Books for my dear friend, Kathryn. She brought tea time to our department a few years ago. Every day at 10am we would take a break from work and enjoy a cup of tea and some snacks. Kathryn decided to go back to school and our department was extremely sad to see her leave. Before she left I had everyone donate a tea bag and a nice note. In each book I created 8 slots for a tea bag so that every time she makes herself a cup of tea she can think of the person who gave her that tea. I'll miss you Kathryn!

Jewelry Time

So I took a break from card making and worked on my "beading". Here is a necklace and a pair of earrings I made. The earrings are for my great friend Michele! Her birthday was last month and she loves wearing jewelry especially hand made items. She wanted something black and white and so...here they are :) I hope she likes.
